108 MILE RCA PROJECTS
108 Outdoor Recreation Projects
Here is an article from the 100 Mile Free Press regarding some of the ideas for our Outdoor Recreation Facilities.
The Outdoor Recreation Committee (ORC) consists of the following volunteers:
Roxanne Ziefflie - Chair, 108 Mile RCA Vice President
Jordan Pawloski - Conceptualizer
Lucille Armstrong - Event Specialist
Cindy Keates - Grants/Funding

OUTDOOR RECREATION FACILITY

The 108 Recreation Committee is working hard towards having an outdoor recreation facility that will be available to all 108 Mile Residents of all ages.
In the winter it will be a covered outdoor ice rink and during the other seasons it will be available for multiple sports like lacrosse, basketball, soccer, and other sports. It could also be available for rent for events such as reunions, weddings, meetings, gatherings.
Currently we are looking at a facility with a steel roof, open sides, a sports flooring with lighting and plumbing available to flood the removable rink.
We would install a self contained heated washroom with running water. With a storage area for the removable rink when not in use.
May 2025
The 108 RCA Outdoor Recreation Committee would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the businesses and professionals who have contributed their time, expertise, and generous discounts toward the development of a new Outdoor Recreation Facility for the residents of the 108 Ranch.
Last summer, we began the evaluation and preparation process, and thanks to the support of our community partners, we have made significant progress:
· Michael Kidston Land Surveying provided a boundary survey of the RCA lands and extended a generous 40% community discount, amounting to over $1,000 in savings.
· Axis Land Surveyors, under the direction of John Squires, recently completed a detailed elevation survey of the proposed area and kindly offered a 30% discount for this phase of the project.
· OCTO Engineering has conducted a comprehensive Geotechnical Survey, with results expected shortly. We sincerely appreciate the $500 discount they provided toward this crucial assessment.
· Performance All Terrain donated the use of an excavator, a contribution valued at over $600. Their support has been instrumental in advancing our efforts on the ground.
We are truly grateful for the generosity and community spirit shown by these businesses. Without their support, we would not be able to move forward at this stage of the project.
On behalf of the 108 RCA and all our residents, thank you for your commitment to community development and for helping make this vision a reality.
GAZEBO
A 12 X 20 Gazebo has been installed on the west side of the building within the patio area on April 15, 2025. Picnic Tables and chairs will be added. One having a checkerboard for chess or checkers. We are hoping to add a Metal Commercial type electric grill for family BBQ's. Drop by and have a Look. Huge thanks to our volunteers Terry, John, Jordan and also thanks to Russel, Clint & Andy from the Men's Shed for all your help in installing this beautiful Gazebo.

PICKLEBALL
The South Cariboo Pickleball Association is leasing a portion of the 108 Mile RCA property between the school and the hall. Construction of a new set of pickleball courts has begun and should be completed in the fall of 2025. A berm will be built on the west side to reduce noise.

The 108 Community Hall has completed the siding replacement. Along with the new siding there is also new insulation adding to our R value on the building. We still have the doors to paint,
